Odysseys Unlimited’s new 11-day Treasures of Jordan, Antiquities & Natural Wonders unearths treasures from times Biblical to Byzantine, Roman to recent, and also answers the question: What do the films “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” and “Lawrence of Arabia” have in common?

Spoiler alert: Odysseys Unlimited’s Treasures of Jordan includes stays in sites highlighted in those iconic films. “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” was filmed in Petra and featured the amazing Treasury building at the end of the Siq entryway; and much of “Lawrence of Arabia” took place amid the dramatic sandstone formations and pink sands of the Wadi Rum desert.

Odysseys Unlimited’s Treasures of Jordan small group tour (just 12 to 24 guests, guaranteed) travels from Amman, where guests enjoy a behind-the-scenes walking tour of the Jordanian capital and lunch in the home of an Amman family, to the “rose red city half as old as time” that could only be Petra, the UNESCO site of an entire city carved into the sheer rock more than 2,000 years ago. After exploring the jaw-dropping temples, tombs, civic buildings, and colonnaded streets, guests prepare a Jordanian meal alongside local people at Petra Kitchen.

Still to come: A sunset jeep ride through the lunar-like landscape of Wadi Rum, with an overnight stay in a luxury tented camp; and floating in the Dead Sea.
Additional treasures of Jordan on this small group tour include the Roman ruins of Jerash (the “Pompeii of the East”), the Byzantine-era mosaics at Madaba, the Biblical sites of Mt. Nebo, where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land, and Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the area along the Jordan River where John the Baptist lived and Jesus was baptized.

Treasures of Jordan launches March 2, with eight additional departures through Nov. 2, 2020. Prices start at $3,297 ($2,695 air and land inclusive plus $602 airline taxes and fees).

In addition to the Treasures of Jordan, Odysseys offers a 5-day Jordan: Petra & Amman optional post-tour extension for guests traveling on two other itineraries, Israel: Timeless Wonders and Egypt & the Eternal Nile.

Odysseys Unlimited offers fully refundable deposits up to 95 or 155 day before departure (depending on the tour), and savings of $100 to $300 per trip for repeat guests.
