Scenic Group has announced that its river lines Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours and Emerald Cruises will start their European river cruise season on Portugal’s Douro River, with the first sailings taking place on Jul. 30 and Jul. 31, 2021, for the respective cruise lines.
Deposits for new bookings on either line have been reduced to a fully refundable $100 per person.
Emerald Cruises is offering savings of $2,000 per couple on the 8-day Secrets of the Douro itinerary for July and September sailings, and savings of $1,500 on new bookings made through Aug. 31, 2021, for October and November sailings of the itinerary.
While Scenic is offering savings of $2,400 per couple on all 2021 departures of the 11-day Unforgettable Douro itinerary, and on the August and November sailings of its 8-day Delightful Douro itinerary. September and October sailings of the Delightful Douro itinerary will include savings of $1,500 per couple.
Emerald Cruises’ 8-day and Scenic’s 8- and 11-day itineraries are roundtrip from the World Heritage city of Porto, sailing along the Douro River as far as the port village Vega de Terron over the Spanish border before returning. Exclusive to the two cruise lines is a purpose-built dock in Porto’s historic Cais de Maragaia, a short walk away from the Cais de Ribeira riverfront promenade.
All guests must be fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to departure. Scenic Group will operate under health and safety protocols developed by its dedicated Health & Safety Steering Committee, and is working closely with relevant bodies, including CLIA and the Portuguese authorities, to ensure operations adhere to all necessary guidelines.
