Adventures by Disney has announced a new Expedition Cruise to the Arctic, as part of its expanded cruise destinations for 2023.

The new 10-day Adventures by Disney Expedition Cruise will begin at Oslo, the capital of Norway with a history that dates back to the 11th century. Guests will stay at the historic Grand Hotel Oslo, and can visit sites such as Frogner Park, the Kon-Tiki Museum, Norsk Folkemuseum and Akershus Fortress.

Guests will then fly to Longyearbyen, the northernmost settlement in the world, and can experience activities such as the Svalbard Museum, mine exploration, or a local brewery tour, before embarking on a 7-night cruise of the Svalbard archipelago’s glaciers and fjords.

Each day of the cruise will feature two excursions, morning and afternoon, pending weather conditions. Excursion options can include Nordvest-Spitsbergen National Park, home to mountains, glaciers, hot springs and the remains of volcanoes; Ice Floe Edge, an eco-system where the sea meets large, flat masses of ice; and Raudfjorden, a fjord located in Spitsbergen’s northern coast, which is named for its areas of brownish-red sandstone.

Guests can send a postcard from the northernmost post office in the world; cruise through glacial waters in search of polar bears, seals and walruses; or explore a former whaling colony. A team of naturalists and Adventure Guides will lead the expeditions, and select sailings will feature special guests such as former Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde, who will lead sketching sessions on an upcoming Arctic Expedition Cruise.

Adventures by Disney has also added more opportunities to explore Antarctica and the Galapagos Islands with added sailings to both destinations. Bookings will open to the public on Nov. 12, 2021.
