Hotel Zena is a new property in Washington, D.C. that celebrates women’s accomplishments through over 60 pieces of art created by a group of artists from around the world.

Located at the base of D.C.’s vibrant 14th Street, the 191-room and -suite hotel, part of the Viceroy Hotels and Resorts collection, showcases an art collection that revolves around the courage of some of the world’s most notable individuals and their fight for inclusivity and change, including a portrait of the late, honorable Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg using 20,000 hand-painted tampons and a massive installation comprised on 12,000 protest buttons from generations of female marches.

In addition to featuring the RBG piece, the lobby’s Portrait Gallery also presents 11 powerful women who have made significant contributions in the struggle for Women’s Rights & Gender Equality. Additionally, numerous pieces by local artists can be found throughout the hotel including the mural of female warriors standing as sentinels on Hotel Zena’s exterior designed by D.C. based art director, muralist, designer, and illustrator Cita Sadeli, more popularly known as MISS CHELOVE.

Dining venues include Figleaf, surrounded by the hotel’s signature art pieces, and coming in Spring 2021, Hedy’s Rooftop will be Hotel Zena’s upscale rooftop lounge serving cocktails, mocktails, and select small bites. Guests will be able to sip and savor in the poolside sun, or in the comfort of one of the hotel’s private cabanas painted by artist Rose Jaffe including her Dancing Druids mural celebrating the rights of fertility and spring.
