Club Med has launched new elevated hygiene and safety protocols to allow guests to book with confidence and peace of mind.

The all-inclusive resort has revealed details of its “Safe Together” protocols, which will be implemented in all of the brand’s international resorts, including their resorts in Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

Club Med has also announced a fully flexible booking policy, as well as the opening of Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie, FL, on Friday Jun. 12, 2020. The resort will be the first of Club Med’s North American resorts to welcome back guests.

“We understand expectations on health and safety have shifted, and after a long period of social distancing people will want to revisit places they are familiar with and trust,” said Carolyne Doyon, president and CEO of Club Med North America, in a press release statement. “Club Med has a 70-year-long legacy delivering a thoughtful and safe vacation experience. As our resorts reopen, we will maintain the Club Med atmosphere, which is an integral part of our DNA while also keeping safety & hygiene as our top priorities.”

The “Safe Together” protocols are well-aligned with the “new normal,” as well as recommendations from worldwide health authorities and local regulations. Club Med worked with an International Scientific Committee comprised of a specialized team of doctors and professors, and closely monitored guest sentiment around the world, including in its recently reopened Chinese resorts.

General hygiene measures will include resorts operating at a maximum capacity of 65 percent; plexiglass protection on all service counters, including concierge and check-in; digital & in-app services such as “Easy Check-In,” Spa booking and in-room service requests; staff temperatures taken at the beginning of every work shift and a requirement for staff to wear protective face coverings, while inside, preparing food, or cleaning; guest temperature taken upon check-in and periodically during stay; hand sanitizer located throughout the resort; and a doctor/nurse available 24/7.

Dining protocols will include increased opening hours for all dining venues to allow for lower occupancy; increased distance between tables, and more outdoor dining capacity; and culinary focus on single plated dishes and custom preparation.

Children’s Clubs will take the temperature of children twice a day, ensure hand washing for all children every hour, continue deep sanitization and disinfection of all equipment, toys and high touch-point areas; and focus on outdoor activities.

While sports and other resort activities will operate under a strict sanitization process including the cleaning of equipment between users. Yoga and fitness classes will be held outdoors; and evening entertainment will focus on smaller scale events that leverage Club Med’s outdoor spaces.

To ensure travelers have complete flexibility and peace of mind, Club Med is launching its Free Cancellation Policy. For new bookings made between May 18 and Dec. 18, 2020, guests can receive a full refund should they need to cancel their stay, up to 15 days prior to the anticipated travel date.

As an additional component to book with confidence, Club Med has also enhanced their Best Rate Guarantee: post-booking, if a guest should find a lower price for the same travel dates, they can receive a Future Travel Certificate for a value equal to the price difference applicable to their next booking.
